Why Exhibit?
* Exhibiting enables you to engage with the art audience.
* To see your work in a different context; exhibiting sometimes enables you to evaluate your artwork more clearly.
* To meet people (other artists/curators etc) to get feedback on your work, and join a supportive social network.
* To advertise yourself to others.
* To gain cultural capital (it’s all about exhibiting....partying, building a supportive network, creating a critical context for your artwork, etc).
As part of the university electives programme I chose to study Exhibitions, with which we have to put on and curate an exhibition. I have decided to go solo as although it will be alot more work, will allow me to make all the decisions and hold it locally as i live on the outskirts of London. I approached Uxbridge Library about the Atrium space, but unfortunately for me its booked up until 2008, but as a result of my inquirey I was put in contact with ruislip library and there gallery, the Cow Byre. After doing some research and investigation it appeared to be a good location and space with a two week available slot from the 16th till the 26th January 2007. It is a refurbished barn located at the Manor Farm site in Ruislip, It is much more impressive on the outside, with the inside done up to accommodate for quick and easy display and rotation of exhibits.
