Chelsea College of Art and Design
BA Graphic Design Communication (2nd year)
Title
Jamie/James
Concept for exhibition
A perspective of two personalities in one person.
for example "Designer/Artist, Shy/Extravert, Listener/Moaner."
An exhibition of one persons work with a split mind, illustrating the two people who I have to be on a daily basis, both at home and at university.
Proposal
For this project I propose to hold and curate a solo show of my two very different styles of working. I possess a duel personality and this is very much reflected in my working practice. At home everyone knows me as Jamie and my work is of an art direction. When I venture to university I become James , and my work takes on a graphic approach. In this exhibition I hope to explore my split personality/identity, experimenting with these two different approaches, making comparisons between my work, the ways of working and the impact of technology. As well as promoting my profile, exploring what I am about, discovering who I am and what it is I do. The exhibition will contain a varity of work based on the two sides of my personality, done in various mediums, including painting, Drawing (pencil and pen), pastels, computer work and photography.
